Every Nurse Has a Story.
Behind every uniform is a journey of strength, sacrifice, compassion and purpose. Nurses Who Rise™ provides a place for nurses to be seen, heard and celebrated.

Featured Nurse Story
Brandice Bowers, MSN, BSN, RN
Oncology Nurse Supervisor
Shreveport, LA
Brandice is a single mother to one amazing son, and in 2026 she achieved a dream she fought hard for—earning her MSN. Her journey wasn’t easy. Along the way, she experienced deep loss with the passing of her grandmother, a woman who meant the world to her. Even in her grief, Brandice chose to keep rising.
As an Oncology Nurse Supervisor in Shreveport, LA, she leads with courage, compassion, and quiet strength. She loves her oncology team deeply and shows up for them—and for her patients—with a full heart. Those who work with her see not just a leader, but a protector, encourager, and advocate.
"Nurses Who Rise™ helped me feel seen, supported, and constantly reminded that I matter."

Hayden Night
Nursing Student
"God placed nursing on my heart as my calling when I was a senior in high school. Since starting nursing school, I have loved every second of it. I am passionate about understanding the “why” behind our interventions in healthcare and how we can better ourselves each and every day. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to care for others, and serving humanity is something that overflows my cup. I can’t wait to learn so much more!"

Teresa Gillyard, BSN, RN
House Supervisor, Shreveport, LA
People often see the scrubs, the badge, and the smile. What they don't always see are the sacrifices, the late nights, the early mornings, and the unwavering commitment behind them.
I am a wife. A mother. A full-time grandmother. A daughter who treasures every moment spent with my parents. I am also a registered nurse pursuing my Nurse Practitioner degree while balancing the demands of work, school, and family.
Being a nurse isn't just my profession—it's my calling.
There are days when exhaustion whispers that I've done enough, but purpose reminds me why I started. Every assignment, every exam, every patient interaction, and every family moment is part of a greater journey.
Nurses who rise are not those with perfect balance. They are the ones who choose to keep going despite the weight they carry. They rise through sacrifice. They rise through faith. They rise through love. They rise because someone is counting on them—whether it's a patient, a child, a spouse, a grandchild, or a parent.
My journey is proof that success isn't about having fewer responsibilities; it's about having a greater purpose.
To every nurse who is building a career while building a family, chasing a dream while caring for others, and choosing courage over comfort—keep rising.
Your story matters.
Your perseverance matters.
Your purpose matters.
Because every step you take today is creating a legacy that others will one day be inspired to follow.
